Hello. I'm hoping someone can help. I just married my wife last month, although I am having serious second thoughts. She has an issue with lying and being secretive. I caught her stealing money from my ATM . . . she was the only one with access. For months, she denied it was her. When I came up with enough evidence to prove it was her, she swore that *IF* she did it, she does not remember doing it. She has been seeing a therapist who diagnosed her with ADHD and PTSD. She is on Klonpin but she only takes some and tries to sell the rest. She can be very loving, but then she can be cold and hostile. I cannot talk to her about my feelings without her getting defensive. I love her, but I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster. Are these symptoms of PTSD, ADHD, or something else?

Hello Baboo27: Welcome to PsychCentral. PC is a great place to gain support, learn strategies for handling mental health concerns, & to make internet friends. There are many wonderfully supportive members here on PsychCentral.

I can't tell you what it is that may be going on with your spouse. What you describe does not sound like ADHD or PTSD to me. One symptom of PTSD is irritability or angry outbursts. But this could also be a symptom of other conditions as well. Realistically, what conditions your wife has must be determined by her mental health professionals. We here on PC are really not in a position to diagnose her. Anything any of us may say is strictly a guess based on very limited information. Still, it will be interesting to see what thoughts other PC members may have with regard to your wife's symptoms.

All new members' first 5 posts are reviewed before they become available for viewing by the community. So there may be a delay between the time that you submit your first 5 posts & the point at which they become available for viewing. However, once these initial posts have been reviewed & approved, your posts will become available for viewing as soon as you click the submit button.

There are quite a few forums in which you will be able to post. If you have not already done so, be sure to look through the listing in the Forum Index:

Each forum is listed in the Index along with a brief description of it's purpose.

Also, once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved, you will be able to participate in our chat rooms where you'll have the opportunity to correspond with other PC members in real time. These chat rooms are listed on the community calendar showing the dates & times they meet:

Thanks for this!

We have an appointment with her therapist on the 22nd. I'm just anxious. I didn't think these things sound like ADHD or PTSD either. Of course, I'm not a therapist. I'm just impatient
