Hello. I'm returning after a long hiatus.
I have a 9yo DD, adopted at birth, who was just hospitalized 8 days for depression/anxiety. She is now on Prozac and we are in counseling with a counselor experienced in adoption. The MD said she may have bipolar disorder but he needs to get to know her better to figure that one out.
Her older brother, age 12, has FAS/ADHD and does well on ADHD meds. My husband has significant issues and I've been told he's probably Borderline PD or Asperger's. He functions well at work but has significant problems coping at home.

Wondering what others do to stay sane and balanced? I do go to the gym, and I work PT. Thank you!
Hugs from:

i wouldnt exactly say i am sane and balanced so i should be the last person offering you advice...lol. but i think it is very important that you find some time to get away and be with other people so you can blow off steam. do you have friends you can talk to? i would try getting away at least once a week, go out to dinner, the movies, coffee. just some place wehre you can sit and chat and LAUGH............

Thanks for the idea, I do need that but I get a HUGE guilt trip when I try to do this.
I think I'll have to find some friends available during the day so no one notices I'm gone! It's hard to find people free during the day, most of the folks I know are working.
I phone my mother daily and that helps a lot.
