Hello...I am not bipolar but I am looking for answers/help on the possible bipolar2 condition that my husband may have. I'm not sure where to go or who to turn to. This is such a difficult disease to diagnose when the affected person is unwilling or unable to see the disease. Any suggestions..please.

Hi Waverider,
I just asked a similar question here: http://forums.psychcentral.com/bipol...diagnosis.html I got some helpful advice that may help you also. Good luck! |

There's a book called The Bipolar Survival Guide by Miklowitz, that does a nice (and thorough) job of explaining how to tell all the BP subtypes apart. The main feature that I've seen with type II is the presentation is mostly that of major depression, with intense anxiety as an overlaying symptom along with brief episodes of manic behavior (called "hypomanic"). Once diagnosed, it is relatively easy to treat in my experience.

Hi, waverider, and welcome! Could you get him to see a regular doctor? Maybe the doctor can look for signs (maybe with some input from you?). As you say, if someone doesn't see there's a problem, there's not much anyone else can do.
