Hi
I have just joined this forum. I posted something in the New Members area with some info about me.

To summarise -
I don't believe I have a personality disorder.
I believe my ex-wife is high-functioning BPD. Her behaviour made no sense to me at the time - including the fact that she would never talk about our huge relationship problems.
I believe the reason I stayed with her is I am co-dependent son of an NPD father.

Many books/articles about PD's - especially NPD - seem to me to be full of misinformation and sheer hate. The descriptions of cold-blooded monsters lurking in our midst seem to just repeat the assumptions made in books written 50+ years ago. Others are more enlightened - describe PD's as a set of psychological defence mechanism formed during a dysfunctional childhood.

I am here because I want to ask you guys about your experiences. I hope that is ok. I have read various posts here from people saying, why doesn't the world come and ask US about how we are as people instead of painting negative stereotypes of us. So here I am asking!

Hopefully I will live up to the name I have chosen for myself -
Open Mind

PS. I am happy to share more info about my experiences if it is helpful to anyone here.

What exactly are you asking? What "experiences", specifically?

Painting negative stereotypes - doesn't nearly every story have a villian? Would people believe a story without a villian or a monster if there were just heroes or heroines in it!
