Hi I am reluctant to post here because my partner ferociously denies he has bpd or npd yet he has 7 of the 9 symptoms of bpd and even more red flags of npd .

Why does this person need to be labeled? If this person doesn't want treatment, it won't matter how many times you try to "make him see the light" as it were. If he wants to stay in denial and keep blaming everyone else for his problems, that's what he'll do.

He is in therapy , and his diagnosis is between him and his therapist .

I made a friend on Twitter who thinks she may have narcissistic traits and I referred her to this forum. I hope she finds her way here.

How do you think his therapy is going? It sounds like there's room for improvement from what little information you've shared.

I use Twitter often, I've met a few on there that have narcissistic traits or even full blown NPD and we've had some good chats. x

In terms of the person I know, since I'm actually not present in the sessions, I do not know.

The person on Twitter never got back to me. I guess she wasn't serious.

Unfortunately my therapist does not agree with these conclusions. As I am not a mental health professional I need to rely on the advice of my therapist. For one thing even if these surface observations are correct the underlying motives are not there to support this conclusion. You and my mental health professional are just going to be in disagreement.

It is very likely there is something quite unrelated going on with me, which of course we have talked about. So until that has been resolved I am not sure what the value of public speculations is. I am going to wait for a proper diagnosis and stay away from speculation.

Currently the only diagnosis I have is PTSD. 2 BPD traits, zero Narc traits and 2 Avoidant traits. The PD traits diagnosis came from taking the MMPI under a Clinical Psychiatrists care.PTSD was done separately.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
