Wife is depressed and is on meds and is going to see a therapist every month. So good so far right?
Well, she sleeps a lot every day; does not exercise (won't exercise); is often frustrated; any advice from me is discounted; puts me down; no interest in sex (once a month or less for 3 yrs) We have kids, and I spend my time trying to help them and shield them from her when she has no patience for them; the drugs she is on are expensive and health insurance does pay for a lot of it and we have to borrow out of savings to pay for the drugs. Every day I am reminded that she was once a person I wanted to be around. No more. Now I just abide. Any advice? |

I agree that dealing with a depressed spouse is hard. Both my husband and I have bipolar disorder, so we have spells of depression.
Is there any way she can see a therapist more frequently? How long has she been depressed? Is she seeing a psychiatrist very often? It might be that her meds need to be adjusted. Actually, I suggest you post this concern in the depression forum and/or the relationship forum. Depression is actually not a personality disorder. Let's see what folks say in those places. |
