I have just been discharged from hospital for the second time and the doctors tell me I'm actually suffering bpd. 7 weeks ago they took me completely off my anti depressants and I've never felt more suicidal. At least 3 times per week at the mo. The mood stabilizers they switched me to in their place have had absolutely no impact on me whatsoever. I explained all this to the doc and he said no amount of medication can treat this disorder as its all in the head. He said I have to make use of of my community psychiatric nurse and has refereed me to pyschotherapy called team 63 which is about dialectical behavioural therapy. That's all well and good but this is a process that takes time and doesn't give me instantaneous relief on the evenings when I'm feeling worthless and wanting to kill myself. I've stopped taking my mood stabilizers because he wouldn't put me back on anti depressants and I feel they don't help me one iota. I've heard of st johns wort a herbal remedy that you can buy from health shops. Does it actually work to any degree? Even if its a slight help some relief is gotta be better than nothing. I'm desperate x x

Can you find another doc? Yes, DBT can work wonders if you have BPD, but it isn't the cure-all, and meds do work to take the edge off.

I have heard that St. Johns Wort does work, but you really should talk to your doctor about it.
