Yeah, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but, I sort of hae a question to ask. Lately I havn't been able to tell is something I have done [ranging from a day ago to my childhood] was a dream or real. I can't tell if some things from when I was younger were real or dreams, and I can't even remember most my life, but I think thats all pretty normal, maybe. But sometimes, even sometime I did yesterday, i'll be like "Did I do that? Was I there? I don't remember being there or anything, was it a dream? I can't tell/remember" or something like that. This has never happened so i'm a bit concerned. But it could be normal, i don't know. So I just want to know if that something that's normal, perhaps why i'm thinking that, and maybe if it,in fact, isn't normal, if it's a symptom of anything. Thanks.

Sometimes dreams seem very real, as they rehash a previous event, or display scenes of something with which we are currently dealing. Only you can figure out if they are "real" or not. I think either way (real or pure dream) that you can find something good to take from them. TC

Is anybody else as interested in dreams as I am? I've always found them so fascinating. Has anybody ever had a dream within a dream? I have. I've had a dream, then dreamt that I woke up from that dream and wrote about it in my journal or told somebody about it. I've even had a dream within a dream within a dream.

Has anybody ever realized, within a dream, that they were dreaming? I've done that all the time. When I used to go to school, I'd often have a dream that I was in school, then suddenly remember (while still in the dream) that it is the summer, so I shouldn't be in school and am therefore obviously dreaming. Has anybody ever actually tried to pinch themselves to see if they'd wake up? I actually have a few times. I've realized I was in a dream and thought to pinch myself. Suddenly, I feel a dull sensation of a pinch on my cheek and wake up, being the only person in the room, so obviously nobody else woke me.

Ever have a REALLY awesome dream, but then almost completely forget it by the time you wake up? That just happened to me last night. I had a really cool dream that I know I'd have loved to have written down and remember forever, but by the time I woke up, I couldn't remember anything about it except a few vague, minor details. DAMN IT!

Anybody ever have something from the real world influence your dreams? Again, back when I went to school, I'd sometimes be in a dream at school, and in reality, my alarm would go off to wake me up, but in the dream, the alarm would become the school's bell.

Experts often say that dreams have meanings. If mine have meanings then I am probably completely insane, because I have the WEIRDEST dreams. The weirdest one I can recall off the top of my head included me traveling through space by sitting on a small rocket resembling a missile and landing on a haunted moon with a ground the consistency of pudding. What in the Hell could any of that crazy crap have meant?

OOOOHHH! I know what I forgot! Anybody ever have a prophetic dream? I've had some. In one, I dreamt about a girl from my school that I only slightly knew becoming good friends with me and giving me a hug. It was over the summer, and the next school year, that girl and I became good friends and she always used to hug me.

I also once had a dream about a great friend of me that her and I became boyfriend and girlfriend. That girl became my soulmate, and a while after that dream, became my girlfriend. I've also had a dream that we got married. Some day..........She is now not just my girlfriend, or my soulmate. She is now my wife. She is my best friend.

You might also be interested in the dissociative chat. That area might tie in with what you are experiencing.

What you are describing (not being sure about your memory) reminds me most of dissociation, which is normal to a certain extent as everybody dissociates at times. Whether or not your experiences are normal depends on what impact it has on your life, or how much it bothers you. Since you are here asking about it, most likely this does bother you. You might want to talk to a professional about it either to put your mind at ease or to see if they do recommend treatment for you.

I think that you would find some things that you relate to, and some explanations, in the book, "The Stranger in the Mirror" by Marlene Steinberg. http://www.strangerinthemirror.com/ She discusses dissociative symptoms, with explanations for them and to what extent each type of symptom is normal.
