Pax!
I have been thinking about this for a long time: How do people get diagnosed with a personality disorder and how do they react when they get the diagnosis? |

If the diagnosis is correct and fits the life story, the first reaction is feeling relief.
After a while, you start thinking about what to do. But having a good answer is, to some extent at least, relieving. |

Agree. Having a Dx can be liberating.. at least there are answers, I call it freedom.

If you really think about it, it changes absolutely nothing. Perhaps can "open your eyes" if you weren't previously self-aware, but... Honestly? You were the same exact person before the diagnosis. It's just a convenient title for whatever your problem is. I don't see what purpose that serves unless you're prepared to alter it.

I was diagnosed correctly last month only.
So I think it will be helpful for me, because I am more aware of the dangers that surround me outside and are inside me. Part of the list of symptoms that I have - acting against my best interest. So I will try to be more cautious and avoid such acts in the future. Because it is all so recent, I cannot say whether the dx would benefit me in the long run. |
