. . .for some kind of re-socialization help for people recovering from personality disorders.

Can anybody else relate?

I’m making this plea to the world at large, really. Throwing it out there. Is there is anybody else with a PD who can relate to this concept? Then maybe the mental health profession will begin to recognize the need. My therapist has helped me recover from my personality issues but can’t help with this much.

Or, if anybody else with a PD can relate then maybe we can find a way to support each other here on PC somehow. Social group or something.

I was with some people tonight and was trying to be helpful but figuratively stepped on somebody’s toes. As I mulled over the situation I could understand what I did and why it was out-of-whack, not fitting into the social context. So that’s great psychologically that I can feel and process stuff like that now. But I’m 68!!!!! I’ve been trying to find help for my psychological issues for years and it’s great that I have. But who expects, or wants, a 68-year-old who is a social klutz and idiot!

I feel like I need something like physical rehab for after you get well from a debilitating physical illness or injury. I live alone and trying to re-join society is really hard. I’m 68 and close enough to a natural exit that I’m not going to rush that up. It’s just so very, very hard keeping on, and for what. Mostly so that my kids will know I didn’t give up.

Maybe it’s that I need to start posting/participating in other forums on PC and I don’t know which ones. Any suggestions? Relationships and Communication doesn’t seem quite on target. I just don’t know . . .

I think looking around in the other forums and posting to threads that personally mean something to you is a good way to start.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
