Has anyone else been successfully treated for a PD NOS. I am in a support group for people in relationship with people who have PD and I feel like the members treat me like I have a PD.
The reason I am in the group is because my whole family is disordered (parents and sibling) and I'm trying to get support around that. My membership has been rocky and this week I was temporarily suspended to give me a chance to cool out. I am not sure I want to go back despite the fact I was told see you on Monday.

Hi Leomama. Sorry you're not having a good experience with this group so far.

I have for years felt that I needed, and I've asked my therapists without success for, a group that could help me resocialize feelings or impulses once they got "unfrozen". Unfortunately the stigma around PD's seems to prevent people from understanding that we sometimes need some practice and feedback.

Since you have been treated, you know that you don't have a PD anymore even though it seems quite reasonable that you might still have some habits that look PD-ish. I certainly know that I do.

Are you feeling embarrassed? I think it's very unfortunate that they used the choice of words "suspension" and "cool out". That sounds kind of shaming. But one thing I'm trying to learn is that just because somebody looks down on or tries to shame me, that doesn't mean I have to agree with them. I can understand your hesitancy in going back, but if you hold your ground maybe this can be a learning experience for everybody? Or maybe not, either. Just my thoughts. Wishing you the best. . .
Thanks for this!

Yeah you're probably right since the site director and moderators are working on a letter to send to my new therapist to help me do a TS from uBPD partner. I'll swallow my pride tomorrow and go back. Thank you .

Not sure what your abbreviations mean, but I do hope your group goes well today. You said that the group treats you like you have a PD and I am wondering if they are just relating to you the way they relate to their loved one with a PD
Thanks for this!

I'm not sure I understand your status. Were you diagnosed with a PD NOS, or are you in the group because your family has personality disorders? PDs are difficult to treat and it's usually a long process. If you have been diagnosed and want to get better, remaining in the group is your best chance of getting support and learning what it is about your personality that needs to be changed.

I wish you well and hope you can make the group work for you.
