After meeting my wife and talking with her and I, pdoc has concluded that I have BPD in addition to BP II. Now I've got a whole bunch of other meds to take, in addition to what I've been taking for BP II. I'm not surprised at all by the DX, but it's just something that I didn't want to hear. It's the part of me that's very hard for loved ones to handle, and with my wife there, man it didn't feel good to be in that room.

Anyway, that's about it. Off I go to the Rx once again. And she's really pushing DBT...grrr I don't like people.

I'm not feeling very verbal today but having the diagnosis will be the start of healing for you - try looking at it that way. Now you know what's wrong ie what your disorders are, it will be less hard for you to fix it and improve and grow I officially have BPD

But having a Dx is a two edged sword, it has been helpful for me, but it really is a wierd one, it should help you from the inside, not to pathologise you from the outside if you know what I mean. It woulnt be right for anyone to use it to control you. Though, we do have an obligation to our loved ones, but because we do, not because of a Dx.

Did you get more meds just because you had this new diagnosis?

Are medications the only treatments being prescribed for you?

I got the med change because the current meds I'm on don't seem to be helping much for my underlying BP depression. That and when I go into BPD explosions, I often times lose complete contact with reality. I have recurrent delusions. Hence, the anti-psychotic.
Drugs are not the only treatment, she's really pushing for DBT. Also more exercise, CPAP (for apnea) and provigil to keep my energy level up.

yep. DBT is great :-)

it is controversial whether 'bi-polar II' and 'rapid cycling bi-polar' aren't really just alternative dx labels for psychiatrists who don't like to dx BPD at any rate.

dx of BPD will mean that you might get the chance to do DBT.
terrific :-)
