Thank you, thank you, thank you ((((((((Doh2007, Junerain ))))) for responding to my post. I have read some of the information and I have calmed down a great deal. Most of my symptoms fall in the BPD category. I was really alarmed yesterday reading BPD info on the web, I am afraid of being like I perceive my mother, who I see as narcissistic in a covert fashion. I am still trying to understand the dissociative disorder I have due to this. I hope I am making sense here. If not please forgive me. My current T is very vague with me as far as nailing down this diagnosis. But in a panic yesterday I called him and asked if he I suffered from NPD, he said no. So that also gave me some relief as well.

I'm a borderline and a narcissist YAY me. nah jk... it really isn't a good thing. Sometimes I feel like I have a 2 personalities. Like my BPD and my NPD are two seperate entities. They cancel each other out. anyway, why did you think you are a narcissist too? For some odd reason I'm offended

No offense, just did not want to be like my parents who narcissism is never canceled out and caused me a great deal of pain. Just did not want to fall too close to their tree. Please forgive.

I find it a little funny as your panicking made it a bit obvious you couldn't be too narcissist since you wouldn't have "cared"/noticed if you were.

But everyone has all the "capability"/traits of all the mental "illnesses", it's not some magic entity that you put on like a robe, it's just how you respond to the attributes you were born with and your environment and experiences. Just like how you perceive your parents might not be how they "are" (your perception could be off), how you perceive borderline/narcissism and yourself might not be how others perceive you. I think your therapist is being vague because such labels are to help him, not something you have to worry too much about.

I am sure that my perception of one of them is half-off. After seeing my T today we discussed it he told me kinda the same thing, but he thinks my being BPD is only one of many symptoms of an abusive childhood. At least that's what I heard, I was fading in and out at that point.
