Oh honey, I know. I have been trying to escape from myself for years. Now I am learning to face myself with trepidation and fear but respect and courage as well..........I am too tired to run anymore.

Being housebound helps........I can't avoid myself in the mirror.

I'm right with ya Echoes. I'm starting to realize just what it takes to be comfortable in my own skin, and believe me I think its going to be a long road.

Atleast there are other people who've walked it? Right?
Thanks for this!

If it's any consolation I often feel the same way - if I could only step outside myself things would be okay. But of course there is no way out. I sometimes wonder if this desire is what leads to the depersonalisation issues that some of us experience.

But ultimately the desire to escape oneself is the desire for a shortcut. And shortcuts often lead to an unstatisfying sense of achievement - like missing the big picture in a race to see the detail. Whilst I do not know, for I am very far from there, I work on the assumption that the longhand route will be the way to happiness. For example, medication may give you momentary and artificial relief fairly quickly, but the far more onerous task of therapy will provide the lasting results you require.

Very best of luck to you, and remember you are not alone

one of the hardest lessons in life is to learn to love ourselves... unconditionally.

((( Thank you )))

It was mostly an intense and temporary thing. Troube in therapy-land. lol

I am feeling much better after a couple of good sessions, working out some issues I'm having with therapy. Always better to tackle things head on, but sometimes I get stuck and can't out of it.
