What do you guys do when just being in a public place makes your ears throb from the common sounds!

I take my fingers, and push the little flaps closed over my ears. If I remember to, I'll try to focus on breathing. And try to get someplace quiet before I collapse or blow up.

ipod! my ipod is my lifeline, seriously. I can tune out the noise of the world that can be so triggering and change it to whatever music or audiobook I want to hear instead.

I was going to say the same ... mp3 player or an ipod ... other than that, walk away to a quieter place, think of a favourite song, breathe to stay calm. It's a horrible thing to go through, raised voices do this to me, my son clapping loud winds me up and he knows it . I hope one of these suggestions helps, Ophelia xx

I too struggle with outside noise, including white noise. Lawnmowers, barking dogs, announcements in malls ......... the list could be endless. I cannot walk with an Ipod because then I won't be aware of what is coming up behind me. Plus, in my country, the thing would be stolen off me in a flash. So I try to concentrate on breathing and by repeating over and over that the noise can't hurt me.
