So, I took a job in a prison about a month ago. Two weeks in I got a phone call from someone at a corrections facility on my home line. I had to report it and was forced to discuss my past history as a crime victim and witness with my new bosses.
I have been whacked out for two weeks now. I actually popped a blood vessel in my eye last week. I wonder if it's from stress. I'm about to go back to the doctor now. Here's how I feel: constantly on edge, like something bad is going to happen. Can anyone relate? Thanks,

Yes! I can relate. I am so sorry you are going through this right now. Hang in there! Even on my "good" days, I am hyper-vigilant and always expecting the worst. I'm told PTSD re-wires our central nervous system in a way and that can explain some of your symptoms. I'm not an expert, but these definitely sound like classic PTSD symptoms. Are you in therapy? Sometimes calming exercises help me - slow, deep breathing, visual imagery, etc. Good Luck!

Yack, I'm so sorry you had to take a job where the chances of your getting triggered and/or having to think about your past problems are greater. I hope time will pass without any mishaps so you can feel more comfortable again.
