The last two days I've had people fixing the shower in my apartment. I'm on the second floor and there was a leak and the ceiling came down in the apartment underneith me. They found out that it was all put together wrong so they have to take it all out and put a whole new one in.
Should be no big deal right? Well not for me. I feel like they are invading my space! They spend ALL day here when I spend ALL day here myself just to get away from them! Why is this taking so freakin long?!? Now not only am I hypervigilent but I don't even get the downtime I need and get when I am alone. I want to scream!

So sorry - I hate it when people invade my space, even if it's just a handyman. My home is my sanctuary...not for intruders!

I hate having repairpeople in my house. I usually get really tense and hypervigilant and then dissociate, which I hate because I feel less alert. It's unsettling to the point that it's distressing, and to have it continue for more than one day is hard. You're not alone with being upset by it!

I am new to this chat,
I am also not a computer wiz. But I am getting a kick out of these Icons and I don't know how you put those in. I CAN totally relate to down time and the great need for it when hypervigillant. They are invading your space but chill, they will be gone and you can take a nice hot shower and celebrate when they leave. Just pray that they know what they are doing so they won't be back.

You know? this is funny, we can laugh at our hypervigilance and dissassociation. Good therapy.

I get in panic when someone comes in my room even if its one of my parents.
I see how some complete strangers can you make you feel so uncomfortable.
They will have to be done at some point though , Hope its soon.
Be safe!
