I know what your going through because I've been there. I can't even drive anymore. One thing I can suggest is to try deep breathing.. Wish I could be more helpful. Hang in there, this too will pass.......

Come to think of it, the T I was seeing for years suggested when that would happen to me when driving that I should stop the car and run around it for awhile.. He said if it happened at home I should run around the house several times.. Guess he was into "running".. Although I never tried it, I thought I'd pass along some of the professional help I received. Who knows maybe it works.......Good way to shed a few pounds even if it doesn't work........

The running suggestion is interesting. I can think of certain highways I wouldn't try it on, though trigger, flashbacks, freaking out! Deep-breathing seems to help a lot of people, too.

Dear greenfairy,
You are not alone.
I also have a lot of problems with panic attacks. I went to get in the car the other day and felt very unwell,I could not breath etc etc and ended up throwing up. I know why I have this problem and I can trace it back to the past but it is so hard to persuade myself that there is nothing to be scared of now.

Anyway the good part of this story is that I did get back in the car and get to where I needed to go. I had to keep telling myself-what year it is, and how things are different now, and that bad things like that will not happen anymore. And I did it.

I hope this helps you. Take care.
