Numb and sort of feeling ok but I have a dread about going to bed tonight. Worried about so many things. I will be okay but I just wanted to write it down and maybe that way it will go away?

Try lighting a candle and sitting in the dark just staring at it. Maybe sit in meditation position and relax your body...this usually relaxes me.

I am often scared to go to bed, too. Here are some things that help me: leaving various lights in the house on, so that nothing is completely dark; making sure I don't go up to bed until I'm at least a little sleepy (and I use meds to get me that way); watching a familiar movie or tv show on tv or my computer so that I'm not paying close attention to it but the noise distracts me; and turning it off early so I can sleep.
Being scared at night stinks. ![]() |

I go through the same. I definitely think its anxiety, I try to drink a full glass/bottle of water, and watch something light hearted! Water definitely helps me.

((((Little Me))),
I struggled with that most of my life and I have rituals that I developed over the years to help me sleep. I never knew why, but I always take the hair dryer and blow heat on my legs and arms before I go to sleep, and I always sleep with a heating pad too. I like to go to bed with the TV on as well "especially" when the PTSD got bad, to keep my mind in the present. In addressing flashback and triggers I realized that came from my childhood because I was stressed and the stress brought on the chills. I also had some bad experiences when I was cold hiding out in the cold until my mom got home. I have night "flashbacks/terrors" if I am cold, so that is why I always sleep with the heating pad. And I used to like to sleep during the day if I could, I just felt "safer" that way. So maybe you could sleep with a light on? Sorry you struggle, I know what that is like. (((Hugs))) Open Eyes |
