I have been in the psychiatric system since I was 8, with all kinds of diagnoses like bipolar and social phobia. My therapist just said i have PTSD. I thought that was just for people who have been in combat or people who narrowly escaped death? I grew up in a traumatic childhood situation like an alcoholic dad, who beat me, and a mom who didn't know how to be there for me emotionally and tons of fighting and emotional abuse. I had a mental break down and went to the hospital when i was 15 when my grandma died, i truly believed by praying she would still live. Then i ran away from home at 16 and got pregnant. What a life. So is she meaning those things are what caused my symptoms? Those were the traumas to cause ptsd?

Yes Midnightmoon, often a history like that can lead to PTSD that can go misdiagnosed for a long time. Now they often call it "complex PTSD" meaning the PTSD symptoms started at a young age.

I am glad to hear you finally got diagnosed. I hope you get therapy for this so you can finally work through it all.
