You cannot heal through PTSD alone, you need help from a therapist that understands the disorder and can help you work through it. You can make gains on it, with help.

I am sorry you have gotten worse, that means it is time for you to get help and therapy.

ptsd is one of those things where whether it gets better or worse depends upon many individual factors..

ptsd is a name for a group of symptoms (flashbacks, anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares, depression, self harming, suicidal, intrusive thoughts) that were caused by some sort of natural, physical or mental trauma.

some people are able to go through a trauma and with in a short time and with out the help of treatment providers the nightmares and other PTSD symptoms stop...

for example many people here in New York went through hurricane sandy, lost their homes and everything they owned. for a time they had nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety and other PTSD symptoms but now even though they did not seek treatment for their PTSD symptoms they are perfectly fine and healed from nature induced ptsd.

I know a woman who was raped and for a time she had all kinds of ptsd symptoms but now without any treatment she is healed and is perfectly fine.

I know many people that were caught in mine shafts when they collasped. they went through ptsd symptoms of anxiety, flashbacks nightmares... but with in a short time they were healed andback on the job with no lingering ptsd problems.

I know many people who have had ptsd and did not seek treatment and they were able to heal with no problems at all.

I know others where their ptsd symptoms have been there and then gone sometimes for years and then the ptsd symptoms reared their heads again.

I also know other people who have never had and breaks from their ptsd symptoms with and with out treatment.

with me my ptsd symptoms come and go. I have had many different stresses and trauma's in my life. each time I go through ptsd symptoms it is because of the new trauma or stressor. for example I healed from my childhood trauma's but as an adult I had a work related trauma which brought on a new set of ptsd symptoms. I healed from that and along comes hurricane sandy and am now trying to heal from that set of ptsd symptoms. for me its best to work with a treatment provider.

but only you can say whether you can heal or not from your ptsd symptoms with or without a treatment provider because you are the only one that knows your bodys way of reacting to trauma and stress. only you know what you need in order to heal from your ptsd problems.
