I know for a fact I had PTSD as a child due to parental abuse. Then in my teens from near constant peer abuse ( both physical and mental)(so bad it was almost torture).
Now I have it again, and I'm just wondering if having PTSD once, makes a person more prone to relapses? The childhood therapy I had never directly addressed PTSD. Not sure any therapist of mine ever has, really. Well, thank you. |

Yes, prior trauma makes you more susceptible to future trauma. However, PTSD never fully goes away. It may get easier to deal with, but I think you're seeing the reality that it never really goes away. I would try to find a T who can help you understand why you keep getting into traumatizing situations and how to help you avoid them in the future.
