I am not sure if all of these things are right or healthy, but I know some of them are and can be really helpful. I know that depression and triggers are different. ...but usually co-exist.
What are some of your distractions for triggers or depression or other?
(I also want to add that I believe we also have to let ourselves cry and its not always helpful to not allow it to release. Sometimes though it is helpful, sometimes it does not always work. ...but it does many times.

Some of my distractions are:
-removing myself in another place. (If I am in a room or the house. Go outside the house or another room.
- I play Sims3 (designing puts a lot of redirect focus to help me not think so much on the things bothering me.)
-Change what I am reading. From fiction (my usual) to something humorous.
- I go to funny pages/sites on line to change mood of depression & thoughts.
(Even when I do not want to or in the mood-it does the job most of the time)

So these are some things I do.

What are some distractions you use?

Hang out with friends is a big one for me. Being too lonely and feeling too isolated can trigger old thoughts and feelings, so this helps counteract that. I also paint and listen to music.

It depends, I guess. If it's only flashes-flashbacks: something not-stationary. It's a bit of a weird description, I guess, but I can go walk at my fastest, or play the piano, or watch an episode of CSI or something, because it's "moving" and forces me - and my thoughts - to continue. Reading and things like that don't help.
If I'm fearing I'm going to re-experience the event and lose all notion of reality: staying in the "here-and-now". So I describe the room around me, or count all yellow things, or something. Sometimes I describe everything I see, explain out loud why it can't have been THERE (for example, because I only got the object last year), and end with "so that's good" before moving on to the next object.
Carpeting is a big anti-trigger for me. There wasn't any carpeting THERE, so carpet or carpeting is always good.

Is there a way to change the title of the posts? Its supposed to say, "Do you have trigger >or< depression distractions?"

I did not change the title in the post. I was assured it originally said, "or" ...and as I read it it was changed to,"of" I just accepted I made that mistake...I even read it as "of" about 10x over. ...and it is changed back to,"or" ....I did not change it and did not know how to.

I am really upset right now...

A mod may have seen your note and changed the title for you.
