I don't know if this will trigger anyone but I'm still putting a warning on this just to be safe.
In May of this year I attempted suicide by overdosing. Now whenever I try to take my prescription medication, I'm always extremely nauseous before and after and I can barely get them down. I do happen to take a lot of pills every morning and night so I'm not sure if this is just my body trying to protect me because of what I did earlier this year. Has anyone else had this happen and/or does anyone know how I can "fix" this? I really need to get rid of this nausea because I'm probably going to have to continue taking medication for the rest of my life. Thanks ![]() |

Before my sister passed she had this problem after a pill overdose. The way she worked around it was there are a lot of medicines that come in chewable form also most pharmacies can fill most prescriptions as a suspension(they mash the pill and add it to liquid. There's more to it than that but it's the bare bones explanation.) and then there are also sublingual pills or strips but most taste horrific.
There are tons of people who for whatever reason have trouble taking pills. Ask your pharmacist and I'm sure they will have even more ideas for you. |

Glad to hear that you made it through your attempt
![]() Talk it over with your doctor, they can arrange something as Raindropvampire suggests hopefully. |

I once over dosed with the help of a bottle of coconut alcohol. Haven't been able to stand coconut since but I don't seem to have any more trouble than usual with swallowing pills.
I'd like to second asking a pharmacist. Many people have trouble swallowing pills, there must be something out there. Good luck. ![]() |

This is a sideways thought, but it has worked on all of our dogs and one of our children so I think it's worth mentioning.
Here in the UK we have a kind of chocolate bar called a Milky Way - don't know if you have them too? It's just a thin layer of chocolate round a bar of very squishy sort of chocolate caramel goo - solid but has lots of air in it so you can mould it. (It's the pale brown stuff inside a Mars bar if that helps). We wrap up pills in the inner bit (chocolate is poisonous to dogs) and mould it round them. Then the texture is completely different and it is very easily swallowed. It sounds a bit daft but it might help just to get things going again. I'm glad you came through ok in May. Take care. ![]() Bluegrey |

Hi, just wanted to pop in and say that I definitely experienced the same thing after an overdose. For me, it eventually went away with time. I had to go really slow with taking meds until then. I took just one pill at a time and usually had to swallow a full glass of juice with each pill--something strong tasting, otherwise I would gag on the pill and cough it up. I cut some of my pills in pieces for awhile until I could handle swallowing a whole one again. Taking the pills with food helped too. It didn't completely take away the nausea, but it made it a lot more bearable.
Hopefully your nausea will resolve itself soon also. |

I've experienced the same thing, but never on the subject of overdosing. I take Lamictal and that stuff is NASTY, and for a while I would feel so sick before and after. But I found something good to take it with (box cookies lol). Maybe if you eat the medication with some type of sweet food? Chocolate works for me- completely drowns out the taste. Hope this helps
