I was first diagnosed with PTSD 5 years ago and fought diligently to have it removed from my record: by diligently I mean sat there and did nothing but complain to myself. I did not think I had it or wanted the diagnosis.

I finally accepted my fate a few months ago and finally asked for help.

I spent a month doing one on one therapy once a week with an individual therapist doing CPT it just wasn't working for me. I was becoming distraught any time I had to do homework not wanting to do it. Ended up landing myself in the psychiatric ward on the VA hospital in the town I live in. It wasn't fun. I needed something more.

They finally got me into an inpatient residential PTSD program through the VA. It's a 9 week program and I am proud to say I just finished my 6 week and am half way through my 7th. It's been an amazing experience I wish was offered to everyone.

If you are a veteran or currently active duty suffering from PTSD this program is for you!

Hi Anastine!
Welcome to PC! I hope you feel welcome here and find what you need, it's a great place for support.
I hope this program turns out well for you and I wish you all the best on your journey through recovery. Because as we all know, it's not an easy one.
Hang in there, friend.

Thank you, Stronger!

This defiantly has not been an easy journey. I am looking forward to it ending than again I'm not. I have all my appointments set up in place for a new therapist one I know from a previous program I was in I have not worked with her one on one but I am defiantly looking forward to working with her in this aspect.

I keep telling myself its going to be ok once I leave here but I worry about the unknown.

Well my time is coming to an end here at the PTSD program. Actually leaving a week earlier than planned. I'm scared to death of the unknown.

I do have plans to see my new therapist on January 5th. Someone whom I previously worked with through substance abuse issues not one on one but still someone I am familiar with through group therapy sessions.

Tomorrow bring's my program to a near completion with a Moving on Ceremony. After that I only have 2 individual sessions to do and Christmas falls into the middle of everything so a day off from our regular activities.

I feel safe here and I have to go back to the real world shortly and try and utilize everything I have been taught here. Here's to new experiences.
