I am on my phone, so can someone add the trigger icon for this? I can place the trigger things around text but not for the site. Thank you. Also, warning here there will be triggered stuff.

Anyways, today was another scary thought about me worried about developing PTSD. I posted my fear of this in the anxiety section, but I feel this might be better here.

So here is what happened:

Possible trigger:

It was terrible. I didn't jolt awake but I was really scared because I had this nightmare as my dad, siblings, and I were in the car. I thought this might actually happen. Of course it didn't, but.

Are these things normal for people who have never even witnessed stuff like this? I haven't had something positive in my sleep for so long I don't know how it feels again. What should I do? Do you guys have similar issues? Thanks.

I have had vivid nightmares before. If you have PTSD, there is a medication called Minipress that you can take to get rid of the nightmares. Other than that, make sure you feel soothed when you go to sleep. Don't watch anything violent on TV at night or read anything disturbing. You can look on YouTube for videos on guided imagery. It can help calm you and put peaceful pictures in your head before you fall asleep.
Thanks for this!

Sometimes to help me drift into a peaceful sleep I use an app on my phone that plays sounds of nature. Sometimes rain, sometimes a forest with birds and a breeze. I focus on the sounds and let all other thoughts go. The idea is to be at peace when I drift off. I have less bad dreams then.

I don't have PTSD, so that's why I don't know why I would get these thoughts. I just wished they'd would stop. I know that when I had this one I didn't watch anything violent or read something violent. It just popped into my mind out of nowhere for me.

Thanks for the tips More negative thoughts.

We are exposed to a lot of news now and there are a lot of news stories about horrible things that are taking place in society. A person's brain is always taking in information and processing it and storing it in or mental library of information we take in every day.

Lots of people have some stange dreams about the scenarios they hear about. Odd thoughts that pop up from time to time are normal, even when they are upsetting in a dream.

I don't watch a lot of news or even read much news. I usually only hear things from others.

Some strange dreams to me is every night. Well, if I remember them for that day. It's upsetting in the dream and out of the dream.
