I made a post a while ago, elsewhere on PC, where I perhaps wasn't clear enough. I had been trying to explain to somebody (IRL) a tiny fragment about my PTSD, without actually putting a name to it - I was pretty sure that if I even mentioned PTSD I would receive an unhelpful response As it was, I received a dismissive (and "frankly" disrespectful ) response anyway. (I was trying to "build a support system" - a "healthy" thing to do, right? ) Sometimes I wonder why bother talking to "humans" ..... I doubt if many I've known IRL would have survived the traumas I've survived any "better" than I have Isn't there an old saying about don't judge someone before you've walked a mile in their shoes
(PS just to be super clear, the disrespectful response was from the IRL person I had been talking to)

(This isn't about anyone on PC)

Me too.

No need to respond: Was the person to whom you showed your post a mental health "professional"?

I am sorry Fuzzybear, unfortunately it's hard to find someone who can actually be "empathetic". People who struggle with PTSD are very sensitive and they can struggle in a society that has a tendency to be insensitive.

The Skeezyks doesn't talk to anyone IRL about what's going on with him. My experience tells me that no one wants to hear it. As long as I'm willing to pretend everything is okay, & I don't make trouble, everyone around me has always been & still is more than glad to play along. The unfortunate part of it all is that many of those same people ended up being gored in the process. The blame falls back on me... mea culpa...

I simply "cut off" those two people who did this to me recently, nobody on PC... I simply didn't bother "communicating" with them again
(They showed quite astonishing ignorance especially as one of them was a "medical professional" - admittedly I'm "hypervigilent" and in a sense "hypersensitive" but that doesn't negate the "stupidity" and unhelpfulness of their words (sigh)
Not worth my time (shrug)

sighs....it never ceases to amaze me - ...well not true i am constantly NOT amazed at how people deal with us that have PTSD - "get over it and move on " seems to be the most common thing i get if i try to talk to someone

Im sorry you met a negative ninja or two little sis - know that we are always here for you even when we are not
