I had heard this was a symptom of PTSD, to always be on high alert.Ever since the night I described in my first post happened I am always looking out for some kind of threat that's never there. For instance I can't even relax at a movie theater without worrying if someone has a weapon or a fire will suddenly break out,or at night at my house I'm afraid of intruders breaking in and I can't relax unless someone else in my house is awake for some reason. It really annoys members of my family that I'm always so jittery but I can't help it.Ever since that night happened my feeling of safety was basically stripped away and replaced with never ending tension.Does anyone else have this trouble?Does is get easier? Thanks for listening.

Hi , yes this sounds like hyper vigilance / hyper arousal. There are many techniques that people use - mindfulness and breathing ( try the " my calm beat " app ) or binaural beat tones or music on YouTube. It does improve if you work on it. Hugs.
