So, back when I was in the hospital and even when I tried it again more recently, I went through guided meditation. I don't know how it's suppose to affect those with PTSD but is sure as hell didn't help. Every time, without fail so far, I will start having intense flashbacks and I can't easily get out of them.
*Possible Trigger* It always starts by me swearing someone's hand is on my shoulder when no one is even behind me. Then I hear his voice when no one's talking. And then it proceeds into reliving the event.
Has anyone else experienced this? How did you get past it (if you did)?

I get flashbacks from meditation also. There's research out there suggesting meditation might not be appropriate for all people effected by trauma, especially ones with unresolved trauma or cptsd...

I was told that the process of "being in your body" is hazardous if you are still actively working to dissociative from it. For me, beating exercises and meditation bring me back to my abuse. Bathing is a direct trigger, while meditation and being present force me to acknowledge the body flashbacks.

If it's something that does not work for you, I would suggest to set it aside until you can work through some of the trauma stuff in therapy...
Thanks for this!

There are as many guided meditations as there are people I think. It might help if you tried it just for general stress relief and not when you PTSD is really activated. I also would make sure I was feeling in very safe place for you. I started doing meditation with my eyes open and for very short interval gradually increasing over time. But I know if my PTSD is really activated its not going to work.
