When I was younger my older sister used to grab me and shake me, yell at me. I feel like whenever I hear anything loud or arguing, get physically touched I feel extremely uncomfortable. I recently saw a new therapist and I talked to her about how my sister used to do that. I told her whenever my sister looks at me a certain way, I think back to when she used to do that. My therapist said that is considered a flashback. Ever since that therapy visit. I've been having nightmares of my older sister, doing it to me again. I'm helpless and can't stop it, just like when I was little. These nightmares are frustrating me. I don't know why they're happening. I know a old therapist, considered diagnosing me with PTSD but never did.

Could this be PTSD?

It makes sense that you are dreaming about what you are talking about in therapy. What is the age difference between you and your sister? Have you ever talked with her about this?
I know that the first time I went to therapy, my dreams changed, and freaked me out----it is like opening up a box kept in some dark corner....((((((((hug))))))))))

7 year age difference. I have never talked to this new therapist about it, before.

It seems to be traumatic for you so I would encourage you to talk to your therapist about this. The dreams do come up which can be difficult but it's the things we've shut down and pushed away that get processed by dreaming. I know it's not easy !

When I first went to therapy, I began to have many dreams about my family/related to things that happened early in life---as if flood gates had opened. It was distressing...and a overwhelming...(sorry I am repeating)
I had gone thinking I would just have the T. help me learn relaxation techniques to help with my anxiety...no big deal...YIKES.
Do talk to your T about the dreams. (((((((((((hug))))))))
of course, now I am wondering how your parent(s) dealt with this behavior.
