Hey Guys,

Whenever I read things that have to do with PTSD symptoms and so forth, it makes me really sad to know that I can relate to alot of it. I sometimes have to avoid reading too much of an article, certain posts and so forth because I could get stuck in the past, and i've dug myself out of there and don't want to go back, but I was reading (still am) an article on PTSD called The body and soul, and to be able to relate and get a better understanding that what I was feeling has a name, it can really be a bummer.

I guess i'm reading cause I have literally have nothing to do. Listening to music, bumming myself out.

I don't know what to do with myself at the moment, Any suggestions?

Hey! Join the birthday party for Alm15 ...at kudos.

Also, sometimes, having experiences that perhaps are not so positive, can really turn you into a gift for other people that are not quite as strong as you are. Now, I know we all have our days, but, I feel you are somebody that contributes so much.

You wouldn't be who you are without all those experiences. And you are a very uplifting person

Aww thanks gab, that did make me feel better.

I guess I don't like the fact that what I have felt in the past and sometimes in the now has a lable like Hypervigilance (wariness of others) and hyperarousal (fight or flight response), etc.

Bothers me... Makes me sad =0(

I'm sorry you're having a difficult time right now; it's not always a bad thing to bring up some of the memories and re-examine how it has made you the wonderful person you are today. As far as what to do at the moment, what about a walk outdoors, was a very nice day here.

It is not so much memories but knowing that I can relate to well makes me sad. So many of us feel that way and it's not fair.

I think you need to find a simple hobby, painting small things you can find things that are cheap at a hobby store or ceramic shop small trinkets that they fire you can paint to relieve some boredom.. Second hand stores have things you can repaint as well..I picked up a book after reading your post today, here is a the saying for the day.

I am now willing to forgive myself...for not taking time to deal with certain unpleasant memories.. Today I am devoted to healing unresolved and unexpressed anger!!
And you know me sweetie I read horror books alot, So this was a gift from someone who knew me all to well it has a daily devotion for everyday of the year. and when the hurting of my children became evident he gave me this book.. Anyhow try a hobby hun, something that helps your mind relax a little we cannot read and take in imput all the time and not find ourselves right back where we started thinking about things that have happened. Hey Girl,

I do read alot, write. It's weird though that this kinda of thing now a days rarely bums me out. Cause really what can you do what is done is done. I don't know why those two words affected me the way that they did. Maybe reading the symptoms list was a bad idea.

I guess though that I'd rather have a name for the symptoms, becaue then you'd understand it better and can go about things differently. Makes it easier to go forward, not knowing keeps you at a standstill.

I forgave myself a long time ago, well not forgive but I let it all god, I was able to not lives with the guilt and shame, I live now only with the regret that what I went through happened, doing that was like a major release, now I can move on because of that.

Hi, Sundance

I can relate to reading certain things or movies or reading posts that take you back to the past and having to make a quick exit.

I have not for example entered the 'grief and grieving' place, because I simply can not do it right now. It frightens me to think of going in there. It took me months before I could even go into and read posts in 'survivors of abuse' and many more months before posting. These are some issues I am working on in Therapy.

it is 2:30 in the morning where I am at, and sometimes I have to wait untill late at night to come to the forum. I guess everyone is different.

It is good that you read, and want to learn. You have posted things youve read that I found helpfull. Thanks (((((Sundance))))

I am the same with movies too, an not just books on ptsd or articles, but something can trigger in a regular book i'm reading and that will stop me dead in my tracks, it's rare that it gets to that point though. But it does happen.

It takes time to let yourself out of the whole and to not be stuck there, took me 8 years to get out of it, and I have no intention on going back, guess time will tell.

I'm sure you will get where I am it takes time, and yes it is very scary, I was terrified of it. But it is worth it in the end to not have as many triggers, nightmares stopping, body memories at a minimal or gone. It's a kind of freedom.
