Started thinking about this after seeing the news about Nebraska (I know it was a mall, not a school, but the pictures of the ambulances...Final verse to a poem) - why is it that nobody talks about "the rest of us"? The people who were there, but not there (in the building, not in the room), who didn't lose any friends or relatives, yet are still affected by what happened.

I find the silence on this subject strange:
Are there no others
Who suffered no loss
Yet still feel pain?
Perhaps, like me,
They are ashamed:
The right to sympathy - to help -
They feel they have not gained.

I hope they find friends like you have here, Rio, who can help comfort them and help them heal. There is nothing to be ashamed of. "Living" is not easy or for the faint of heart.

I don't think anyone feels "good" when ambulances go by/gather. I know I cringe.

Thanks, Perna. I hope they do as well...I used to feel so alone in this. Final verse to a poem Although I still do sometimes, I'm very glad that I can come here and vent/seek advice when I need to. Final verse to a poem
