I thought I was finally over this - having been nightmare free for almost a year. Nope - every night this week, horrible crazy nightmares that are hard to wake up from, and the accompanying sense of unreality that takes a few minutes to get over when I wake up.

What really pisses me off is this usually means that my sub conscious is trying to tell me something usually leading up to a new and unpleasant memory.

I've been in therapy for close to 10 years now - does it ever end?

Wow, splitimage. I was thinking about this same thing on the way home from T a few hours ago.

It seems just when I'm ready to declare myself "fixed" something slams me back.

The good news is I don't stay in that zone for too long now, and my reactions aren't as intense.

My recovery from the slam is much quicker.

All I can say is look back at when you started T and how it was versus now.

The beast we call PTSD might never end, but for me the ride is not so bumpy anymore.

I hope the same will be true for all who visit here.
Thanks for this!

HI Splitimage, MINIME, Orange-blossom,YCATS and Jennyj11

I am sorry that somthing triggered you into having nightmares again - but maybe its part of the healing process - even if its an unwelcome part

when we forget what needs to be fixed our sub-conscious reminds us - not often in a pleasant way, that work still needs to be done - until, i suppose, we have processed everything that is bothering us - it's tiring, annoying, sad, scary and lots of other things but i suppose its a road we have to take -

be kind to yourself everyone and Happy Holidays P7

Unfortunately, I can't tell you when the nightmares will end. Sometimes it seems like just when you're getting over it, they come back again out of nowhere. I can tell you that it will get better if you keep talking about it in therapy. Maybe your therapist can help you analyze your dreams and find out what is triggering them.

Best wishes and happy holidays. =)
