I am trying to "gain control" of my PTSD as my T says and seek legal recourse against those that precipitated it. I can't seem to find an attorney who will touch it. "It's not a physical thing so you just need to get over it." has been the most common quote.
Fine. Let THEM live with me 24/7. My daughter just told me that the docs told her they wouldn't know if I had brain damage until I woke up. Now my daughter has intrusive thoughts and she wasn't even with me in the OR.
Help!!!

There is a lot of good info for lawyers on PTSD here:

http://www.ncptsd.org/who/lawyers.html

You might try contacting your state NAMI office and find out what lawyers they have used in the past. Try this url:

www.nami.org

Good luck

sigh. I've been permanent, total disabled for 18 years and my attorney STILL doesn't get it. Good Luck!

Perhaps to research avenues on statute of limitations on childhood abuse etc is more feasible. People just don't "get it" regarding PTSD, let me warn you. They will ask more questions than you have answers for, and even if your T tries to help them understand: they won't be able to. It's the nature of the beast. I think free phone consults with attorneys would be a place to begin, also. Don't share the event as that will be quite triggering, but ask a few pertinent queries.

Thanks everybody for the advice. Mine is a medical/anesthesia mishap that occurred in October, 2004. I have two years in Texas to file a claim if I can get anybody to listen to me!
