I have a permanent order against someone for several years
Recently a counselor keeps telling me to sue abuser
I don't think so-he has connections,old with terminal cancer
I don't want to subject myself to his lawyer anymore
He has been arrested for it and has crimnal history
I cannot afford it- I am unemployed
WIth his illness and the fact that I have not recently called police
I cannot understand why the counselor persisits
It is causing me to stay up
Please tell me what you think

HI sunshineinthecity,

This is a question you should ask your counciller - ask them what they think you will gain from doing this and let them know that you dont want to do it if thats what you decide -and that you want to move on - if they can't give you a reason that you can accept for this course of action and then wont let it go - it may be time to find another counciller -

The reasons you gave for not suing your abuser make sense to me. I wouldn't sue either if I was in your shoes.
I do think you should ask your therapist why they feel that you should sue your abuser. If their reasons arn't good enough for you then maybe you should consider another therapist.
