Is the score useful in any way? I mean, sure you might think something is wrong with you and through predecided internet quizzes find out you're right but almost every shrink I've been to has told me it's useless, uses their own tests, and then find out it's worse than they thought. To me, at this point, it's no surprise. I'm a grab bag of disorders that shrinks have failed to treat, help, or cure for the last 15 years.
But what's the point in having a scoring system, especially an overall scoring system, if even this site itself says the score is "the least important" part? Or better yet why do so many "professionals" ignore it or ignore patients for that matter? Even with internet help or even all the way to past patient records, each new "professional" wants to do their own thing and believe everyone is wrong. Or is that not true and this area just sucks for doctors (which it does). |

Hello NesterJones: The Skeezyks is now in his mid 60's. He's been actively rattling around the mental health system hereabouts for...oh... going on 20 years now. (Prior to that I just stuffed it all down & kept stumbling along...)
Over the time that I've been in the mental health system, I've seen quite a few different mental health professionals, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, etc. I've yet to be given a diagnosis. I presume there must be something written down somewhere for insurance purposes... probably depression. But I know that's just what's easy. Every mental health professional I've seen has informally suggested a little different perspective with regard to what's going on with me. But it's all just so much speculation based on nothing. I'm convinced there is an age at which mental health professionals just decide you're too old to bother with. Just give 'em a script for some antidepressants & show 'em the door... next patient! At this point I've just given up on the system & the so-called professionals who earn their living in it. I'm not on med's & I don't see a therapist. I still technically have a pdoc (whom I actually like personally.) But I plan to only see him once a year just to keep my foot in the door, so to speak, in case... I don't know about the score question. I've taken the sanity test a couple of times. It always seemed it made me appear to be in better shape than I felt myself to be. I was once given an MMPI to complete while in a partial hospital program. They never reviewed the results with me. It just got stuffed into a file somewhere where I doubt anyone ever looked at it. I'm convinced they just did it because they knew my health insurer would pay for it. ![]()

If a quiz could be made that gave correct answers we wouldn't need docs. A quiz simply cannot tell you what you don't already know, since you are self reporting.
IMO the biggest role of a doctor is not to analyze but to always have the patient's back. Sadly, it is almost never the case. Docs sometimes have favorite diagnoses. You sometimes hear patients talk about them like If you go to dr XYZ you will get a bipolar diagnosis. I think when a doc makes a diagnosis it is like one of those lab rats that can push a button and get an instant pleasure release. After I was diagnosed I was told there is no help for that so forget you have that. We certainly will. Eh.. thanks? LOL. I score low on the Sanity Score because I guess I make this up.. or I feel crappy in the wrong ways? Heck knows. At least here you can connect with other people and they will not charge you for it. |
