Hi everyone,

I've been taking SJW for about 5 months now. When I started to, I was having major mood swings. I'm not really having mood swings anymore, but I have no idea if it's because of SJW. I'm still anxious quite a lot, especially when things get stressful at school. I take Valerian Root, and it works well when I have a lot of adrenaline in my system (before a performance, for example), but at any other time, it makes me really sleepy for two hours and then it wears off... I don't know how many a day it's ok to take... does anyone have any advice on anything else I could take? I'd be willing to go the medication route. In fact, I was considering Buspar, but I'm not so sure anymore, now that I've read Esthersvirtue's thread... thanks for any feedback, Lauren.

Hi Lauren,

I am not very familiar with the different herbal remedies out there, only do know people taking multiple herbal treatments need to be really careful as they are not FDA approved and no available documentation as to the mixture of different herbs and the possible negative effects.

My advice would be to make a list of the herbs that you regular take and your symptoms and seek professional advise as your anxiety is concerned. Possibly to start with a Medical Doctor for an evaluation of your symptoms and the degree of anxiety. and possibly treatment or referral.

Be careful of dismissing a medication due to the negative experience's of others as everyone responds differently to medications and while one medication may be a 'nightmare' to one person it may be a world of difference to another person. (I would imagine this is true with the different herbal treatments as well?) I wish you the best in getting your anxiety under control and if you do go to a professional, I do hope you are able to get some results and relief. Any advice? good luck and hope for a good today. --Chris
