Ok... so I have been having these really really really bad anger episodes where I just get so angry I literally can't see.
![]() ![]() I have come to the realization that it has got to be the Lexapro. I have been on it like a month and I didn't have his anger problem then (I mean I would get angry but it has gotten a trillion times worse). Then my mom (who studied to become a nurse) that Lexapro is never recommended to anyone under the age of 25 and because I am so petite it is doubly dangerous. Now I am concerned and I don't know what to do. Should I call the hospital who prescribed th Lexapro? Should I go to another hospital? I am almost out of pills (I have like 2-3 days left) and they didn't give me any refills and I don't see my T until August 10th (unless she has a cancellation).

Hey Manda.... ![]() Take a look at your discharge paperwork that you got from the hospital at your time of discharge. There SHOULD be a number for a doctor listed on the paperwork that you can call for questions. If there is one...I would call and speak with the MD and tell him/her the situation. Explain the anger outbursts and episodes, let them know you're concerned it may be related to the meds, and also let them know that you are going to run out in a couple days. I believe it takes Lexapro a couple of weeks to really get into your blood stream...but some Anti-D's can cause negative reactions with certain people. The MD may change the med....or may get you a refill. If he/she writes for a refill, my suggestion would be to keep taking it as directed until you discuss it with your T in August. Some of these Anti-D's can have bad side effects if you stop cold turkey and it's different for everyone so there's no way to tell how it would be for you. As far as the anger goes....it's not comfortable for you, I know...but if you can hang with it and be patient with yourself, and request that family does the same, as long as you're not hurting yourself or others, just do your best to cope for now!!! You've been doing really well!!! I'm proud of you!!!! ![]() Hang in there!!!!!

![]() You do NOT want to go off lexapro cold turkey!!!! I'm concerned that you aren't being monitored while on medication, especially if it is a new prescription. ![]() So your first inclination is correct: call the hospital and give them the whole story about how you are feeling, and how few pills you have left. Get the name of whomever you speak with, and ask them what you should do. Don't put it off. If you end up with one pill and no contact, and try to reach the doctor again and can't, then go to the urgent care center for assistance (or ER if there is none.)

You need a physician to work with...I am more than a bit surprised the hospital discharged you without one. Call the hospital and discuss the Lexapro issue SOON.
You need medication management, and it can take a while to get the right meds. I like Sky's idea...if the pdoc at the hospital cannot help you, go to the ER or Urgent care.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, I agree. Talk to your doctor as soon as you can. Also get a refill for your Lexapro. As was stated above you don't want to quit taking it cold turkey. As for your anger, when you feel it coming on try to stop what you are doing and take a few seconds to regroup - if you can. Sending you many hugs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
