I have been taking Vyvanse for several months, they've changed my dosage several times, from 40 to 60 and then back down to 50. Anyway, I feel like it's making me more paranoid then usual, if I start thinking about something that really bothers me, I can't stop, and I usually end up making it far worse then what it should be. Or I just plain out start thinking stupid things, and I have no idea why. Any advice???

Hi, I am currently taking 60 mg a day of Vyvanse. I have been on it for 6 months. I haven't personally experienced any paranoia on it. Since it is a stimulant, it can sometimes cause some psychotic side effects. Have you taken any other stimulants? Perhaps, another stimulant would be effective without the side effects. I wish I had a better idea. I am sure you are discussing this with a doctor. If you continue to feel this way, you should definitely call the doctor to discuss your options.

Hey HotRod ... sounds like it is causing/worsening specific symptoms for you, which is definitely something to bring up with your prescribing doc.
It's a stimulant and will make some people "cranked up," with differing results. What are you taking it for? Does it improve some symptoms too? |

Hotrod, I have taken Vyvanse for almost a year. I take 30 mg a day. I also have a prescription for 20 mg, which I also sometimes take if I feel I don't need as much that day. I have found Vyvanse really helpful and have not had any paranoia. If I take it too late in the day, it can keep me up (that is actually why I have the 20 mg RX too--I can take it late in the day if I've forgotten to take the 30 in the AM).
Have you tried taking a lower dose? Maybe that would eliminate some of your paranoia. What does your prescriber advise?

I take it for Adult ADD I was recently diagnosed, and it has helped a great deal with my problems. I started out on the 40mg but it had gotten to the point I couldn't tell if I was taking it, at times, thats when she put me on the 60, I came off that quick b/c I would get very agitated, quick tempered, and of course the paranoia as well, but it was way worse. I also get really bad headaches at night, and can't sleep. I think I'm going to go back down to the 40, or try something different. I really like the vyvanse, I can concentrate and not drift off in la la land, well I still do sometimes but not like I use to, I don't forget as much, and actually have the motivation to do things and finish them. I have an app. next month to see her, earliest one I could get.

It made me very, very, aggressive. I had to stop taking it.
