Hi
So I find myself at fifty sober for two years with the help of an anti depressent . I had autism as a child and did not socialize very well, Being strange made me an easy target at school by the other kids, it was to the point that I had to leave that small town after H.S. My parents were of no help at all, in fact they made things worse, my father was very abusive and my mother didn't care at all, which lead to a disastrous childhood. Anyway you get the idea my childhood sucked . I'm sure alot of you can top my story. The rest of my life was filled with drinking alone, never having a family or friends. The alcohol pretty much killed any reality and I was in a world all my own. I got fired alot for drinking so I ended up starting a small business and was able to drink when ever I wanted, big mistake! So now I have a termial illness and not much time left. I don't what to die alone, it almost happened a couple of times , I can't tell you what it felt like to have been alone at the time. So my problem is I need to find some one, only when I try and meet people I get really bad panic attacks. The autism and the fact that I have been alone so long have made me very awkward , like a teenage boy on his first date. Some people pick up on it and have a good time at my expense just as they did when I was a kid. Its funny the same type of person who did it then still does it, I guess people don't change. The anti depressant that I take is amazing, I drank for thrity years and within a week or two I stopped. I can even go into a liquor store and reminiscence about all the wine and steel ( that I ended up on)I drank. So does any one know if there is a med to help me with these panic attacks.

Thx
John

John,

Welcome to PC. I am sorry you have an illness right now.

Various meds will help ease the panic attacks: Ativan, Valium, Klonopin or any of the other benzodiazapenes.

Good Luck and keep us posted as to how you are.

Hi phoenix. I'm new here. Good to meet you.

Be careful before you advocate the use of benodiazapenes mate.
