Since my last job, I started getting anxiety attacks, at least that is what I call them.

They start out with this overwhelming feeling in my chest, panicky sensations that are just horrible. I can't adequately describe all the symptoms, but I told my pdoc about them.

Since my bp cycling seems to be stable, thanks to Geodon and Ambilify, he told me that my job had caused these feelings and to try Clonazapam and Lorazapam to see if it helps.

There are times when they work really well and make it possible to go to work. Other times it takes both to get me there. I just started a new job and there really is no stress, yet the attacks continue anyway.

Any thoughts on how to calm these sensations down?

Hi - sorry you have started having anxiety attacks. Sometimes a change in our lives triggers them, and since u have had a change in jobs, that could be it. Our thoughts are such a huge part in our anxiety, sometimes we actually bring them on without knowing it....in a subconscious way. I found with my anxiety and panic attacks, once I could just say "OK, I figure its about time for me to start feeling anxious, so lets just do it RIGHT NOW and get it over with"....it sorta trips our thinking, and we dont have an attack. Fear breeds anxiety and panic, therefore, once we are no longer afraid of having the attacks, they will lessen. Like right now, I am about to leave for a huge party - glad to be going, know I will have a great time, however, back when I was still having panic and anxiety attacks, I would sit quietly for awhile, and just tell myself "OK - HIT ME - Lets get it over with, I wanna go to the party and not worry about when an attack will hit." I never had one when I opened myself up for one, and that in turn lessened my fear of going out somewhere, because I had already told myself .......HEY it didnt happen - so lets goooooooooo ! :-) Might work for you as well !

I have never known Clonazepam and Lorazepam to be taken together - except in severe cases of panic attacks. I take Clonazepam(Klonopin) and have not had ONE attack since it built up in my system....as it is a medication that has to be taken regularly and stay constant in the body. I suppose the Lorazepam could be used in conjunction with the C. until it builds up. How did you PDoc prescibe these meds? Only as needed? ****eeekkkkkk**** I hope not !

Good luck ! Changing jobs can be stressful enough without anxiety attacks on top !

Nice to meet you to Mary Alice. I look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Lorazapam really helps with my anxiety. I have PTSD and am a "recluse" because of it. With the help of Lorazapam I'm able to get out of bed and out into the world a bit. How much are you taking? Maybe your doc has you on a low dose.
