I have been on a few meds in my life for depression and anxiety, and most recently nortriptyline. At the moment i have only gotten strange side effects from the ssri's like prozac/celexa/zoloft.nortriptyline seemed to make me feel better when i started but couldnt deal with the extreme dry mouth.

Basically when i start on a ssri i notice after a month i start yawning a lot along with i guess a tightness in my chest. Also when i yawn i get this 'euphoric' feeling in my chest but it's not what you would expect i guess.Kinda like adrenaline and anxiety feeling rush through my body to my head. All of the ssri i have tried so far make me feel like that.Been on them anywhere from a few months to 6 months.

I spoke with a psychologist about what was going on but it's tough for me to put into words what that feeling is.He mentioned something about it being bipolar but i dont have manic mood swings.I just feel depressed and full of anxiety all the time.I tried my best to describe it here in hopes someone knows what might be going on when i take ssri's.

Is it possible im just really sensitive to ssri's?Would a different type of med help possibly? To tell the truth nortriptyline for the first few days i felt better.Much better than how i felt on the ssri's.Ofcourse i never got to where the depression or anxiety/brain fog lifted even after being on it for awhile.

I really dont know what to do anymore, and hope someone can give me some advice.Im tired of dealing with this.thanks

I'm hoping you have a good Psychiatrist prescribing your meds. They will be able to answer all your questions. I had the same problem with some older ssri's but I am now on viibryd and it helps with depression as well as anxiety. 'good luck Jake

Hi Jake,

I was just wondering you mention that you have been on several ssri antidepressants and I was wondering if you have ever been on an snri such as Effexor XR or Cymalta I take Effexor XR and had been on many ssri's and they did not do the same positive experience I got from Effexor XR and it has been working for over 13 years for me so just wondering if you had ever discussed an snri with your doc.

Take Care,

Hey krzyk101 ,I remember my doctor giving me the option to go on Effexor SR but i was scared of the side effects it might give me.I think im willing to try it now just to see if it will work for me.Just wondering but how did the ssri's effect you? What dosage are you on for effexor XR?Maybe that might work for me.thanks
Thanks for this!
