Been depressed for 3 years, been thinking a lot of suicidal thought and been crying so much! Dunno where to start?

I've been having conselling sessions in school and out school therpy. For how low I've been feeling my T has put me on medication called Prozac. Never been on anti-depressants, never thought I would be so despit to be actually happy that I'll been put on anti-depressants. One a day, my mum is looking after it as I can't be trusted with them. Just that eak I don't like to swollow big tablets, I hope they are not to big. Hmm sorry anixety, I worry to much now again.

Is there anything I should be careful about taking ANTI-DEPRESSANTS?

when it is generic, prozac is in a green capsule. smallish. at least mine are. i saw my psych doc today and am still on them. i don't think you should have any big concerns about an AD. sounds like you will benefit from them. i'm extremely happy that you and your mother are working out this problem together.....xoxo pat

Do NOT drink alcohol. It is very dangerous to drink any alcohol while taking anti-depressants. I'm glad your starting to take them. They will help you.

Be safe,

I thought you said on June 9th you were taking Prozac, your post title today 6/15 says you are starting them tomorrow?
I'm confused here Starting Anti-depressants tomorrow!
Prozac, as well as other medications work for many people, and not for some.
As long as you work along with your pdoc, report any side effects that are not common that don't go away with time expected, keep pdoc informed of how you feel, things will be fine.
By keeping in touch in this manner, the pdoc can have you switch or stop the med if it is wrong for you.
Now if I read your previous post correctly, you stated you started the Prozac on the 9th, why are you saying you start taking them tomorrow 6/17? Did something go wrong back on the 9th?
Are you okay?
Prozac is not a large pill, actually a small capsule, well it was when I had been on it quite a few years ago.
I wish you luck with this and further progress Starting Anti-depressants tomorrow!

Thanks oops I think I did and the perscripstion took awhile to send to the GP. But now I've got the medicine and my mum is looking after it, I can't be trusted with medicine. But I can't drink any alcohol at all. Ok I shall not! My T said before that I'll might stay on them for about 6 months if everything goes to plan.
Need to take 1 today! Starting Anti-depressants tomorrow!

Heres some more info.

First off dont expect meds to give you the same quick fix like headache meds do. Dont expect a overnight fix.. if you on the right med it will take weeks to take full effect and itll be more like a pair of glasses to your brain, like the others have said for some this med works, for others that med works. Its a game of trial and error and it may take a long time to find out what works for you if at all.

Once you get on the right meds it will help you stay focused and be able to take a breather better then when not on meds.

Make sure you talk to others and give it time to take effect to know if its doing you the right thing sometimes you may not notice its helping you but others will a difference in you.
