Hi,
I am unemployed and my insurance company has a yearly cap on meds. I take 60MG Cymbalta 2x a day and am doing fine. However, it counts as about $300 towards my cap, although the co-pay is only $20.
Has anyone ever asked their PDoc to switch meds due to this reason. For example I know Prozac and Paxil are now available in a low cost generic.
Thanks,
John

Yes, I have talked to my doctor in the past about switching my meds. Just told her flat out that I couldn't afford the meds and really needed her to find me one that was on Walmart's $4 list. She was very understanding and changed my meds. Although I did have to change up my scripts since then. The ones I'm on now cost a butt load of money. It's like she found the most expensive ones on the market to prescribe this time around. (my insurance reemburses me)
Thanks for this!

Yes, I've asked my doc to switch meds due to cost. For me the substitute was not nearly as good, but I found her understanding of my financial need and willing to accommodate. Good luck. I hope you can find something less expensive that works for you.

I had this problem. My pdoc put me on Effexor. Effexor is an older and less expensive med. It works on Nora as well as sero and dopa. I think it is a bit weaker. You can compare the 2 meds in the meds section to see for yourself. Go6d luck!

Lilly, the manufacturer has a patient assistance program for those in need. Go to the Cymbalta page and in the lower right there is a link to the program. I use the one for Smith/Kline, and I get my meds for half price. More and more of us need help these days and I'm glad I ask for it now, because I never would have in the past....Good Luck..Y
