My anxiety and ocd has been getting really bad again lately for some reason and I"ve been easily agitated and irritable so my doctor decided to put me on a new med called Zeldox. Apparently it's a new antipsychotic that does not cause weight gain. It's still very new and I'm only on a trial base for it, as it's not approved yet. So far, the only side effect I've noticed is sleepiness and feeling out of it and spaced out. I've only taken two pills so far though so hopefully that side effect will go away. I'm glad it's making me sleep though, as the only med that made me sleep before was remeron and whenever I took remeron, it made me soooo hungry that I would eat anything and everything in the house! It was awful, I gained so much weight from remeron! I really hope I can lose weight with this new one and also get the severeness of my anxiety and ocd and mood swings under control.
Anyone here take this med or heard of it? I'm a little weary about it being so new and not tested for very long, but I'm so desperate to lose weight and not be on any more meds that cause weight gain that at this point, I really don't care about side effects (as long as they're not fatal or anything!) Anyone have any experiences with this med?

Zeldox, also called Geodon, has been available since 2001. For a full description lookup Zeldox in Wikipedia....everything you always wanted to know.....

ok I think it's safe to say my insomnia is back now that I'm off the remeron and on zeldox. I slept the first night but couldn't sleep last night or tonight.. ughh I hate this! It's like, my body 'feels' tired, and I don't feel awake enough to do things, but I"m so wide awake that I can't sleep, if that makes any sense. It's like I'm drugged up, but still wide awake. I am debating whether or not to take some melatonin... I think it's safe to take with other meds but I'm still a little weary about mixing it with the zeldox.. anyone know if melatonin is safe to take with it? I'm so desperate for sleep!

Melatonin is a natural brain hormone that regulates sleep cycles. Since it natrually occurs in the brain small doses should be safe (just my opinion...Always check with Psych before adding any med to your regimen)
