I have stopped taking 20 - 40 mgs of adderall per day cold turkey... It's been about 2 months. It was a great drug and helped me immensely. The only problem was that I am naturally pretty thin, and I was losing weight because of loss of appetite as a side effect of the drug. This is something that never went away because I was on the medication for years.
Now, I can eat three meals a day again. I am up to a healthy weight for my height and bone structure, however, I simply cannot get motivated to do ANYTHING! Does anyone have any advice? I feel severely depressed and haven't been making much of an income because I haven't been working or even showering since I stopped taking adderall. I'm considering going back on it, despite what it did to my appetite because at least I was productive... I'm so confused... |

What were you taking Adderall for?

You need to tell your pdoc exactly what you just posted here. You also need to tell him/her about your problems with your other medication. You need professional guidance with all of this as soon as possible.
I wish you well. Jan

I was taking it for ADD and now I can't get motivated or concentrate on anything! I was on it for years and the side effect of appetite loss never went away... despite all of the other wonderful things it did for me. It allowed me to function as a normal person for once in my life. I feel lost without it and all I do is sleep.
I'm hoping there is some other drug like adderall that won't make me lose my appetite... |

There probably is. Talk to your doc about other options.

ZennZ, definitely talk to your doc. You sound very depressed. I take Wellbutrin for ADHD symptoms, but it is primarily used as an anti-depressant in most people. It does help me with motivation and task-finishing. It may not be as effective as a stimulant like Adderall for those symptoms, but it does help me.
