I am 2 weeks without Seroquel now and life is improving. More color and emotions. It is a modest roller coaster, but better than the artificial bland and boring calm. (Still on the potent de-sexing anti-depressent Remeron. That may go, too, but not sure because it keeps me from killing myself, I think.)

My question is if I continue without the Seroquel, what can I do with the remains of a brand new refill?

I have over $1,000 worth!!! Tossing it in the toilet is a waste of money and is also a polluting toxic waste.

There must be some way to legally donate this stuff.

Any ideas?

AH!! Dope slap to my self!!!

I quit Seroquel a couple weeks ago and HERE I AM AGAIN on psychocentral's forums. If THAT is not a sign of return of depression, then I don't know what is. That and random days of bleak and blearies, sleeping too much, too poorly, teariness with slight provocation, dull grey days even under the brightest and hottest sunshine.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I still plan to go without the nasty Seroquel for as long as possible and want to donate it, if possible, should this experiment work out. That crap just takes too much for what it gives. It is zombifying and I don't like being un-dead.

I did a quick google search on the topic, looks like best to check with your doctor or pharmacist, for instance this group takes donations but not from individual patients: http://www.directrelief.org/sections...donations.html

In terms of return of depression, what has worked to pull you through before? Best wishes to you, hope you find your way through to that sunshine once again soon.

The AIDS volunteer group in my city takes medication donations. I've given all kinds of stuff. It's good to know it won't get wasted.

err-umm, do they have street value? Well, I would be willing to find out for you, send me the drugs and I will do the err-research , that's right..................................................................

OKay lighten up! Dumb joke, I am the last person I could see doing this. Your question is ultimately very valuable because we all get meds we spend a fortune on and then there is notheing we can do but dump them? In my area there is little I know of in the way of legal donations.

That's a really good question though. I wonder the same thing now.. We have a big AIDS group here in Chattanooga too. I'm wondering now if I can donate my old meds to them?? I'm going to look into it for sure.
Thanks for posting this....

He WW,

I'v got bunches of Fentynal in the form of the lollypop...which quit working when they changed the formulation...found out it quit working after I got a months worth of it.

Sure there is some street value in those......lol. They aren't pills to throw down the toilet & takes forever for them to disolve....they have been sitting around for several years.

Eskie, hope no little ones tottle around your house. Now the thought of old drugs scares me as many change chemical structure over time. Maybe you want to cut the sticks off these babies and flush them at a puplic toilet that has massive capacity so it doesn't back up? Oh that would be a mess hard to explain. Ha ha

Wise, LOL I could just see the plummer finding out what stopped up the pipes....as long as they don't give it a drug test....lol.

Luckily there are no young ones anywhere near my home, but I am sure when I pack up to move that I will be destroying them somehow.

I talked to many services & no one could really help me with a way to destroy them....thought that was really funny that no one could help.

In some places, hospices accept medications.

Cheers,

Thanks for the tips. If I give the blasted things up I will check some of the local clinics.

As far as flushing goes, there is more to it than just the waste of expensive meds. I met a environment chemist a while back who was telling me that our rivers are being subtlely and possibly dangerously polluted by flushed meds AND by the the meds and metabolites we excrete and flush. She said one of the most important ones is birth control pills. Apparently the pee contains enough that even after sewage treatment they are having a feminzing effect on wild fish stocks. She said this is a very new and hot topic of research and they don't yet have any idea what it all will mean.

I also just heard a chemist on the radio talking about cocaine metabolites in a city's river. It was very surprising what he derived from his calculations. The official data said that the city (in Italy) had about 15,000 cocaine users. When he crunched the numbers he found that there actually had to be at least 40,000 cocaine users to account for the residue in the sewage.
