Some people actually lose weight with wellbutrin. It is not associated at all with weight gain. In fact it should not even be prescribed to those with eating disorders.

I've been on Wellbutrin for several years now. I haven't gained any weight and a matter of fact I have actually lost some weight. Now my weight loss could have been from other medications to but my pdoc said that the wellbutrin most likely helped with that. Wellbutrin has helped me out a lot in decreasing my depression. People take medication for different reasons and they react to it completely different. So in my opinion I would give it a try...but that's because it has done so well with me....so good luck in what ever you decide.

Ack... I have to put in a fair bit of effort to eat during the day. Wellbutrin kills my appetite.

I had the worst weight loss with Wellbutrin...on top of Prozac.....I ended up 20 lbs under my minimum weight...85 lbs at 5'2". Not everyone has this reaction, but wasn't ok for me.

Thanks for your post. I think I am going to ask my shrink to try me on the wellbutrin. The Cymbalta..is keeping me from staying at a reasonable weight.

Take good care.

Everyone can be affected in different ways, I took it a few years ago, it did nothing for me, depression wise, nor any control with appetite. I hear it may help with this and quitting smoking, but sad to say for me, nada want to switch to Wellbutrin. Opinions, anyone?
At that time doc tried, Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, Wellbutrin, and the last that had worked for about 7 months was Celexa, no extra weight gain and no fatigue want to switch to Wellbutrin. Opinions, anyone?
Lots of luck with this, I know how frustrating it all can be, but try to be patient, things will work out.

Sincerely,
DE

Thanks. I hope my Doctor will be affirmative with the Wellbutrin. She can be a little "touchy" at times.

I had the bad side effects of wellbutrin...the part that makes you even more suicidal...I hated the way I felt on it....wanted to die every waking moment while on it...finally took me off and put me on lexapro and it helped so much

Hi.

I decided to give it a shot. If it starts making me ill...I will discontinue right away. While on the Cymbalta...I went from a size 10 to a size 20. I have never been overweight in my life until now. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for your input. Glad the Lexapro is helping u. It's all in finding that one drug that will work for us.
