Does anyone have any ideas what I can safely take for my migraines while on:
Pristiq 100mg
Lyrica 150mg
Seroquel XR 50mg

I have experianced seratonin syndrome up close and personal, have a HUGE family history of diabetes, cardiac disease and cancer
Any ideas would be welcome

im not on any of these but i can say ive taken imitrex & maxalt which made me feel like i was having reactions. the one i liked & agreed with me was relpax but they are all so expensive (the only time ive gotten these were samples) i have found darvocet helps my migraines but doc wont give it cuz i have a history of addiction. upcoming drug screen so if i get one cant take the darvocet i get the 800mg ibuprofin which only dulls it for awhile

Maxalt is the one I use. It usually works okay for me

verapamil works for me but I don't know if it would interact with your current meds

I battle with migraines from time to time too. I take very high Paracetamol meds, and am going to ask my pdoc for a script for some REAL migraine meds. For the last one, I nearly had my boyfriend take my to hospital. I was pushing my head against the wall behind my bed to get some form of relief. It was pure torture.

Imitrex didn't help me. I had to go on maxalt but sometimes I have to go to the dr for a blood-pressure-lowering shot. They can get so bad! Do the psych meds cause migraines???

Some mood stabilisers (Sodium Valporate I think) are prescribed for migraines too. But I really started suffering from migraines when I started the psych meds

I'm really late in the game with my answer but I saw your post and I feel for you...I am in the same place. ALL the triptans can cause seratonin syndrome (imitrex, relpax, maxalt, frova...) I can't use them either because of the meds I'm on. I use the old drug...Fiorinal with Codeine (called Fiorinal C 1/2). Not technically a migraine med but used to treat migraines and works like a charm. Ask your doctor. They will usually prescribe it if nothing else works or if you can't ake anything else.

Good luck!

Fiorinal w/codeine does the trick. I don't get the headaches very often anymore, thankfully.

Imitrex made me feel like I was having a heart attack!!! Nasty stuff.

Imitrex didn't even work ! Maxalt, however, does. And when that doesn't there's a shot if something at the drs office. Haven't yet been to the ER.
