i dont know either meds myself but xanax is addictive so if you're taking 200mg a day that seems like a lot but your dr did it for a reason

The Zoloft dose you are taking is not high. I take over 100mg Zoloft per day myself and my pdoc wants me to try and go up to 200mg per day (which is the maximum recommended daily dose for Zoloft). But the Xanax dose sounds extremely high....Did you mean 0.5mg 4x a day?? That would sound about right.

How are you feeling on these meds? I hope they are helping!

Zoloft 50 mg. a day is a standard dose and I think you mean 0.5 mg. of Xanax . Both medications are often prescribed together and do not have any adverse interactions between the two. You might want to ask your pdoc to try clonazepam (Klonopin) instead of Xanax as the clonazepam is longer acting and seems to be smoother. Xanax is usually reserved for temporary, short-term use and can cause "rebound" anxiety in some users because of it's very short half-life. Both clonazepam and Xanax (alpralozam) are classified as "benzodiazepines" and can cause dependency issues after taking them for more than a few weeks. This means that should you be on Xanax (or another benzodiazepine) for longer than 3 weeks, you should never stop taking it abruptly and should have your dose tapered under the instructions of your pdoc.

I hope this helps. Laurie

I really hope it all evens out. Are these meds new for you? Zoloft can definitely cause more anxiety and all kinds of other weird symptoms at the beginning, before your system adjusts to it.

OK... Just received my blood work back.... I have to have this done every 6 months... All ok including cholesterol - good and bad- Thyroid, sugar, etc. BUT my vitamin D was very low.... Still don't understand why??? Now on D2 1.25 mg (50,000 units) for the next three months. Did some research.... Vitamin D defiency can cause depression, bone loss, nail growth... and yes, my teeth look like ice thin all of a sudden.... ghrrrr.... wonder if this had anything to do with my latest panic/anxiety/PSTD episode combined with all the life drama???? I took my first pill Friday... and feel now like a totally new person! No naps during the day... no going to bed before 11 am.... Who would have guessed!!!! Hugs

Hi... with my PC pals.... I would highly recommend they run the full blood scan for various defiencies.... I never had any idea I was vitamin D dificient, until I noticed my fingernails not growing, my teeth enamel started deteriorating, being SUPER tired all the time (ie. having to take a nap at noon and going to bed... the latest by 8pm). I tought the tiredness was due to the crazy drama in my life.... but now happy, it was not all in my mind!!!! Hugs & I still have my issues... but they don't seem quite as bad

Hmmmmm maybe that is what I need to have done. I am exhausted all the time. I go to bed by midnight up at 730 ready for a nap at 9, my nap turns into sleeping til 130 or later. Might go pick up a bottle of Vit D and see if that helps. Glad it is working for you.

I am on 50,000 units per week.... before you get to this point... check with your dr/t..... It is safe to take up to 3,000 units per week.... but no more w/o any blood work Hugs
